Requirement of Digital signage information points at malls

There are various requirements of digital information points within a mall. First and foremost it is important to convey the information to the available attendees. Secondly, the digital signage information points are more engaging than an ordinary person or a static poster. People are easily attracted to the information and it serves to inform the clients, the customers and the shoppers with necessary ideas.

Digital signage information points are helpful because it provides a competitive edge to the users. It improves the experience of self-service with increased level of understanding of the product, because it is more interactive. Furthermore, it provides improve level of customer satisfaction, because the information is available 24/7.   Attending each of the queries from the visitor and also the regular shoppers can turn to be a tedious task for the attendees within the mall. Existence of information points improves the ease with which the clients and the customers are handled.

It is possible to put up multilingual information kiosks. People who do not speak English can avail the information through the information point in their local language. Information points for locating the store are also important as it is important to find how to get to a particular destination. Frequently, it is seen that the bigger malls have locators for retailers, lounges, restrooms and cinema theatres. This way a consumer would know where to go to avail a particular movie or any particular designer brands. Even the position of any particular restaurants can also be located easily.

Apart from the above information, it is necessary to supply the mall visitors with information on different matters. Like, if there is any particular theatre within the mall, then it is important to know the movie name, screens where the movie is shown and the timings. Sometimes it is also important to know the show timings and the availability of the tickets before someone stands in the queue.

Some of the malls have information points about the restaurants and the city or hotels that is situated within the mall or outside it. Tourist areas have such information kiosks for supplying information on the tourist hot spots. One can have information regarding the price and the product catalogue of various stores within the mall. It is not necessary to check the shops for any discounts or sales that are in offer. One can easily avail the information, see the news and reviews of different information live as though in a television. Miscellaneous information is available at the same time from the same point.

One can provide the feedback about stores, their product lines. One can also compliment or complain about any particular mall staff. It is possible to provide suggestions. Most of the bigger malls make the information point interactive and simple. They constantly keep on improvising the basic structure of the system so that the information kiosk can be utilized properly and accurately. If the relevant facility increases, so also the brand value of the particular mall increases.

This volume thoroughly covers the subfield of information, and is one of the first in a series which synthesizes the research literature on major concepts in the field of communication. Each concise volume includes a research definition (concept explication) and presents a stateoftheart analysis of theory and empirical findings related to the concept. After defining the word information, the author contrasts nonlinear and reflexive ideas about human communication with linear perspectives. Information is equated with uncertainty. The result presents a pattern for the process of conceptualizing and reconceptualizing information in the context of evolving communication theories. Author: Ritchie, L. Information Retrieval Query Language

$73.28

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles An information retrieval query language is a query language used to make queries into database, where the semantics of the query are defined not by a precise rendering of a formal syntax, but by an interpretation of the most suitable results of the query. Of importance in IR query languages is weighting and ranking, relevanceorientation, semantic relativism and logicbased probabilism. An example of an IR query language is Common Query Language (CQL), a formal language for representing queries to Information Retrieval systems such as web indexes, bibliographic catalogs and museum collection information. "Saul Kripke`s classic lectures, Naming and Necessity, changed the way we think about reference and intentionality, but it remains controversial just what the basic lesson of his work should be. In this book, Frank Jackson, with his characteristic clarity of mind and down-to-earth style of argument, articulates the view that Kripke`s insights and arguments can be reconciled with a version of the description theory that were the focus of this attack. Jackson clarifies the terrain by putting the issue in the wider context of the role of language in the exchange of information. Much of what he says is persuasive, and all of it is challenging, stimulating, and clarifying."-Robert Stalnaker, Massachusetts Institute of TechnologyMany take the description theory of reference for proper names to be dead in the water. Contrary to this view, Language, Names, and Information defends a version of the description theory from a perspective on language that sees words as a wonderful source of information about the nature of the world we live in. Indeed, the book is as much about the implications of this perspective for discussions of meaning and reference in general as it is for the particular topic of names. Representation and information, two-dimensionalism about content, the role of possible worlds and centered worlds, the distinction between what is metaphysically possible and what is conceptually possible, and rigidity – all make their appearances as required by the informational perspective on language.

Michael Buckland offers an examination of information systems that is comparative rather than narrowly technical in approach. With careful attention to different meanings of information, Buckland examines the nature of retrievalbased information systems such as archives, databases, libraries, and museums, and their relationships to their social context. The introductory material examines difficulties of definition and terminology in relation to information systems. There is a systematic overview of the concepts and processes involved in the provision and use of information systems. Bucklands attention to unusual examples, to how different aspects interact with each other, and to how information systems are influenced by their contents and their context yields interesting insights and conclusions which force reconsideration of common assumptions in information science. This volume, with its subject index and bibliography, provides for students and professionals a valuable and readable introduction to this rapidly expanding field. Information Flow (Information Theory)

Information Flow (Information Theory)

$76.47

Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Information flow in an information theoretical context is the transfer of information from a variable x to a variable y in a given process. Not all flows may be desirable. For example, a system shouldnt leak any secret to public observers. Securing the data manipulated by computing systems has been a challenge in the past years. Several methods to limit the information disclosure exist today, such as access control lists, firewalls, and cryptography. However, although these methods do impose limits on the information that is released by a system, they provide no guarantees about information propagation. For example, access control lists of file systems prevent unauthorized file access, but they do not control how the data is used afterwards. Similarly, cryptography provides a means to exchange information privately across a nonsecure channel, but no guarantees about the confidentiality of the data are given once it is decrypted. In low level information flow analysis, each variable is usually assigned a security level. High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Information access is a term used to describe an area of research at the intersection of informatics, Information Science, Language Technology, Computer Science, and library science. The objective of the various research efforts in information access is to simplify and effectivise for human users to access and further process large and unwieldy amounts of data and information. Technologies applicable to the general area are e.g. Information Retrieval, Text Mining, Machine Translation, and Text Categorisation. In discussions on free access to information and on information policy, information access is understood as concerning ensuring free and closed access to information. Information access covers many issues such as copyright, open source, privacy, and security. Provision was made in copyright and patent law for information in the public domain. However the extent of the public domain has been under attack in recent years, as database vendors expand the copyright and contract laws to eliminate concepts such as fair use. Information Combining

Information Combining

$119.48

Information Combining is an introduction to the principles of information combining. The concept is described, the bounds for repetition codes and for single paritycheck codes are proved, and some applications are provided. As the focus is on the basic principles, it considers a binary symmetric source, binary linear channel codes, and binaryinput symmetric memoryless channels. Information Combining first introduces the concept of mutual information profiles and revisits the wellknown Jensens inequality. Using these tools, the bounds on information combining are derived for single paritycheck codes and for repetition codes. The application of the bounds is illustrated in four examples. Information Combining provides an excellent tutorial on this important subject for students, researchers and rpofessonals working in communications and information theory. Information Retrieval

Information Retrieval

The information on the WWW is growing at an exponential rate; therefore, search engines are required to index the downloaded Web documents more efficiently. A typical search engine comprises of the three main components. (1) Crawler: Given a URL, it combs through the pages on the web and gathers the required information for the search engine. (2) Indexer: While an index of 100,000 documents can be queried within millisecond; a sequential scan may take hours. An indexer that optimizes speed and performance for finding relevant documents for a search query (3) Page Repository: The information retrieved by the web crawler is stored in a database called page repository. Web mining techniques like clustering can be used for this purpose. The performance of a search engine is limited because of these two problems. (1) Low precision (2) Low recall. Thus, there is a need to develop efficient indexing technique. In this book, a novel technique is being discussed that not only indexes the downloaded web documents efficiently but also uses a webmining technique to make the indexed information searchable, enabling the search engines to provide more relevant results. Since the system of Ayurveda classifies most diseases predominantly based on the symptoms, it categorizes both Crohns disease and ulcerative colitis in the disease called Pravaahika, and hence these two conditions have been clubbed here together for a common overview of their Ayurvedic treatment. Treatment is aimed at correcting the basic pathology of the diseases, controlling symptoms, preventing or reducing complications and boosting the immune system of the body. Crohns disease and ulcerative colitis are both inflammatory bowel diseases which can be painful and debilitating, and sometimes may lead to life threatening complications. Common symptoms include diarrhea, abdominal pain and cramping, blood in the stool, ulcers, reduced appetite and weight loss, and fistula or abscess. Heredity and an abnormal immune system are believed to be the common causes of these conditions. Ulcerative colitis affects the innermost lining of the large intestine and rectum in continuous stretches; whereas Crohns disease occurs in patches anywhere in the digestive tract, and often spreads deep into the layers of the tissues. Timucua Language

Timucua Language

$58.94

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Timucua is a language isolate formerly spoken in northern and central Florida, southern Georgia, and eastern Alabama by the Timucua people. Timucua was the primary language used in the area at the time of Spanish arrival. Linguistic and archaeological studies suggest that it may have been spoken from around 2,000 BC. There were eleven Timucua dialects, but the differences were slight, and they served mostly to delineate tribal boundaries. Only nine primary sources of information about the Timucua language survive, including a Spanishtranslated Timucuan letter to the Spanish Crown in 1688, and two catechisms written in Timucua and Spanish by Father Gregorio de Movilla in 1635. Most of what is known of the language, however, comes from the works of Father Francisco Pareja, a Franciscan missionary who came to St. Augustine in 1595. He served the Timucua for thirtyone years. He wrote several SpanishTimucua catechisms, as well as a grammar of the Timucua language. In 1763, the very few remaining Timucua speakers were relocated to Cuba, near Havana. The group is now extinct. Language And the Internet

Language And the Internet

$71.49

In recent years, the Internet has come to dominate our lives. E-mail, instant messaging and chat are rapidly replacing conventional forms of correspondence, and the Web has become the first port of call for both information enquiry and leisure activity. How is this affecting language? There is a widespread view that as `technospeak` comes to rule, standards will be lost. In this book, David Crystal argues the reverse: that the Internet has encouraged a dramatic expansion in the variety and creativity of language. Covering a range of Internet genres, including e-mail, chat, and the Web, this is a revealing account of how the Internet is radically changing the way we use language. This second edition has been thoroughly updated to account for more recent phenomena, with a brand new chapter on blogging and instant messaging. Engaging and accessible, it will continue to fascinate anyone who has ever used the Internet.

Language and Communication

Language and Communication

$310.25

Computer interfaces and documentation are notoriously difficult for any user, regardless of his or her level of experience. Advances in technology are not making applications more friendly. Introducing concepts from linguistics and language teaching, Language and Communication proposes a new approach to computer interface design. The book explains for the first time why the much hyped userfriendly interface is treated with such derision by the user community. The author argues that software and hardware designers should consider such fundamental language concepts as meaning, context, function, variety, and equivalence. She goes on to show how imagining an interface as a new language can be an invaluable design exercise, calling into question deeply held beliefs and assumptions about what users will or will not understand. Written for a wide range of computer scientists and professionals, and presuming no prior knowledge of languagerelated terminology, this volume is a key step in the ongoing information revolution. The Subjective Value of Information

The Subjective Value of Information

$111.53

Information workers collect and disseminate information by sharing and by trading (buying and selling). The extent of information exchange by either sharing or trading is influenced by the subjective value assigned to information by users. While information is important for every aspect of work, its value has not been determined experimentally. This research describes the development of a unique research tool, a business game, focused on the subjective value of information. The game was used to examine experimentally the subjective value of information in both trading and sharing situations. Subjective value was represented by the willingness to pay or accept payment or share information in business situations. The main finding is that information ownership bears an impact on the subjective value of information as manifested by the tendency to trade in or share information. This study offers experimental demonstration of the subjective value of information previously known mainly as a theoretical concept. Assessment of subjective value and ownership of information should be considered in the design of systems. The Economic Value of Information

The Economic Value of Information

$254.9

This is a book about the evaluation and choice of information sources by individuals and the design and management of information systems by organizations. The book studies the determinants of the value and cost of information, both to the individual and to the organization, provides technqiues for the assessment of the value of information and the comparison of informativeness among alternative sources, and presents principles for the optimal design and management of information systems. These topics are unified by the thesis that both information sources and information systems are valuable to the extent they contribute to better decision making. By providing students, researchers, and practitioners with a coherent notation and framework throughout, the book integrates the decisiontheoretic approach to the evaluation of information with knowledge from Information Science and Management Information Systems on the design, management, and cost of cooperative information systems, thereby demonstrating the multidisciplinary applicability of a unifying approach based on decision theory. Securing Information Flow at Runtime.

Securing Information Flow at Runtime.

$115.71

Information flow security is branch of computer science aimed at regulating of the dissemination of information in programs, that is, to preventing the inadvertent flow of private information handled by computer programs to unauthorized public entities. Although static systems for programming language based information flow control are wellstudied, few works address runtime security of information flow. Runtime information flow control offers distinct advantages in precision and in the ability to support dynamically defined policies. To this end, this thesis develops dynamic techniques to track direct and indirect flows of information, and secure information leaks due to timing channels, in higherorder programs. We formulate two runtime information flow systems: lambda deps and lsyncseq . lambdadeps secures the direct and indirect flows in programs by tracking the dependencies between the values flowing across various program points, while lsyncseq decouples the publicly observable timing behavior of programs from secret data by synchronizing the execution times of timingsensitive pieces of codes. Noninterference results are proved for all our systems. A Beckett Canon

A Beckett Canon

$77.67

Samuel Beckett is unique in literature. Born and educated in Ireland, he lived most of his life in Paris. His literary output was rendered in either English or French, and he often translated one to the other, but there is disagreement about the contents of his bilingual corpus. A Beckett Canon by renowned theater scholar Ruby Cohn offers an invaluable guide to the entire corpus, commenting on Beckett’s work in its original language.Beginning in 1929 with Beckett’s earliest work, the book examines the variety of genres in which he worked: poems, short stories, novels, plays, radio pieces, teleplays, reviews, and criticism. Cohn grapples with the difficulties in Beckett’s work, including the opaque erudition of the early English verse and fiction, and the searching depths and syntactical ellipsis of the late works.Specialist and nonspecialist readers will find A Beckett Canon valuable for its remarkable inclusiveness. All definitions are written from the perspective of literary critical use. The entries generally include source information. Whenever possible, the reader is referred to sources in English. Cross-references are also provided as appropriate. A Prehistory of the North: Human Settlement of the Higher Latitudes

A Prehistory of the North: Human Settlement of the Higher Latitudes

$29.95

Early humans did not simply drift northward from their African origins as their abilities to cope with cooler climates evolved. The initial settlement of places like Europe and northern Asia, as well as the later movement into the Arctic and the Americas, actually occurred in relatively rapid bursts of expansion. A Prehistory of the North is the first full-length study to tell the complex story, spanning almost two million years, of how humans inhabited some of the coldest places on earth. In an account rich with illustrations, John Hoffecker traces the history of anatomical adaptations, diet modifications, and technological developments, such as clothing and shelter, that allowed humans the continued ability to push the boundaries of their frontier. The book concludes by showing how in the last few thousand years, peoples living in the circumpolar zone–with the exception of western and central Siberia–developed a thriving maritime economy. Written in no technical language, A Prehistory of the North provides compelling new insights and valuable information for professionals and students.
